14 May Recruitment Challenges in the Hospitality Industry
It’s no secret that there are Recruitment Challenges in the Hospitality Industry.
When I sat down with Rajesh Vohra, Director at Sarova Hotels I was interested to know his take on the situation with recruitment, and he highlighted some very valid points.
As well as stating that it’s a tough recruitment environment throughout the industry, across properties there is a shortage of the required skill set available. Rajesh believes that the hospitality industry is viewed as a ‘stop-gap’ or ‘I’ll do this until I get a proper job’ when in actual fact, the opportunities within the industry for career development are unprecedented.
With opportunities in accountancy, HR, health and also the ability to move into management roles within 12 – 18 months, Rajesh believes it should be seen as a valid career choice.
So what can be done to alter this perception? Can more be done at a grass roots levels i.e. school, college? Would working collaboratively with these institutions go someway to bridging the gap?
Watch the video and let me know what you think.
